Fact: I have been to Chicago 6 times this year.
Chicago and Boston have long been my favorite cities, but this week Chicago wins. I’ve been there the last 2 weeks for work.
I think my favorite thing about Chicago is how the traditional, nouveau and modern art seamlessly dance around the entire city.
The parks. (and listen to orchestras practice in this glorious theatre.
Chicago is FULL of parks. Right along the coast of Lake Michigan, the Chicago waterfront has all been preserved for parks and public recreation. Never have I seen so many bikers and joggers!
Lake Michigan is gigantic. It looks just like the ocean in Boston.
I meandered over to Navy Pier too. I was experiencing some beautiful weather!
The windy city lived up to it’s name.
The architecture.
I love our Boston architecture in it’s classic New Englandy-ness and colonial buildings.
But, my favorite period of artistic movement is from the 1920s to the 1950s – and New England doesn’t really represent architecture well from that era. Chicago, on the other hand, is a feast for the eyes.
The Art Institute of Chicago is my favorite art museum. Period.
If you’re looking to go to Chicago sometime soon:
I stayed at both theĀ Chicago Embassy Suite and the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Be sure to hit up Millenium Park, Navy Pier, the Art Institute and the Riverwalk.
And I’ve heard good things about the Architectural River Cruises – next time!
For good eats, be sure to stop at Gino’s East Chicago, Chicago Pizza And Oven Grinder Co. and Joe’s Stone Crab.
I’ve unpacked my suitcase and I’ll get back to blogging! We have drywall coming down like flies – so there is lot to update y’all on!
There is no other place in the universe better for pizza than Chicago!! Great picks for your restaurants. I’m a tad bit jealous!
I went to Chicago years ago but it wasn’t long enough. I’d love to go back.
Reblogged this on stationaryobjects.
Very cool, I have been twice, and the architectural river cruises are a must!
next time!!
it’s worth it – a beautiful city!
A fine tribute to my favorite city. A good capture of the glory that is there. Unlike any other. Definitely unlike Los Angeles. Thank the Lord. I need to visit again. So privileged to have attended college just outside.
